Outside the Lunch Box- Data Visualization

︎ 2021

This project, an exercise in storytelling through data visualization, utilizes data collected by fellow student Isuelle Kim on her lunch habits. Given information on lunch costs, modes of acquiring the meals, and time allotted for eating, I aimed to construct a narrative around how Isuelle’s personal lunch habits reflect those of a larger population of students.

As part of this project I got flex my copy writing muscles, which I absolutely loved. While I’ve never considered myself a writer, I like to think I have strengths in selling my ideas with words. Creating a story through data visualization relies just as heavily on the descriptions that accompany that data as it does the aesthetics of the way it’s presented. I find this to be a fun challenge, and enjoy adding humor and excitement to a topic as simple as lunch.
