Bio + CV

Hi, I’m Piper.

I am a graphic designer, educator, researcher, and illustrator, currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the Univeristy of Tennessee. Across my work, my goal remains centered around fostering discourse, and promoting individual agency.

Originally from the Kansas City area, I graduated from the University of Arkansas with a BFA in Graphic Design along with a Minor in Art History. Later, I returned to the U of A, where I obtained a Masters of Design and produced my gradaute thesis, Public Comment, which proposes the design critique as a model for faciliting citizen feedback at city council meetings.

My areas of research interest are civic engagement, methods of critique, and participatory data collection. I have spoken about my work at national and international design conferences and have also contributed to several collaborative published works and group exhibitions.
